Traffic Tickets and Insurance Costs

Traffic Tickets

Did you know that moving violations are a misdemeanor offense? When you get that traffic ticket you deserve the right to be represented by counsel even if you are guilty.

What?  Say that again!

Many courts will keep your driving record clean if you have a lawyer who knows how the system works. And I am not talking about "fixing" tickets by any means.

What I am talking about is making sure that you are represented the way you should be so that you minimize any damage to your record and keep your insurance costs down.

Often times you will have to pay an extra fine. In most cases the court feels you have been punished and they make extra revenue which is what it’s all about.

You may have only personally received one violation in a year, but if other drivers in your family get one too, your insurance rates may increase significantly. Keeping our auto insurance rates low is more important than the infraction in most cases. Some PrePaid Legal member families with teenage drivers have received four or more violations in a year and still have their safe driving discount with their insurance company.

Another thought is that when you are traveling on the interstate in other states you often lose track of how fast (I know I do) you are going and get pulled over.  It does not help because you have out of state plates either. The officer figures you will not bother to show up and fight in court so it is a slam dunk.   Cha Ching!  You mail in a check and it's over.

A PrePaid Legal member can go home and fax the ticket to their home law firm and their law firm contacts a law firm in the state where you were and pays them to have a lawyer go to court for you!

So, got a lead foot?  Unfortuantely, me too!  Click to see more information about traffic tickets and other legal services of value.
