Wills

A Will is a legally enforceable declaration of how a person wishes his or her property to be distributed after death. In this document, a person can also recommend a guardian for his or her children.

Now, I ask you a simple question - when was the last time you updated yours?  I am proud to say that I just updated mine recently (4/2008) and now I have some peace of mind that my property shall pass to my only son in the event of my untimely death.  Do you see how important this is?  What would happen if you pass away and you do not have these things in order?  Imagine what would happen if you do not have an executor of your estate or a guardian named for your children.

The State in which you live in can make the decisions for you should you pass away!

Now I do not know about you but I would prefer that the state stay out of my personal business as much as possible.  I think we have enough government involvement in our lives and I certainly do not need them meddling in my business when I die either.  My goal, by having this important document in place, is to ensure that my family is taken care of.  In addition to that I want to make sure that when I pass away they have to deal with my property and assets with the least amount of legal issues possible.  By putting my last testament in place this is taken care of.

In addition, I also have a living testament in place.  This is another very important document to have in place.  The reason is because we as humans do not like discussing our death or what would happen if....  This document puts into place your desires should you become incapacitated due to severe illness or injury and cannot make medical decisions as they need to be made.  It puts into place your desires as to whether you would like life-sustaining measures to be taken or not.
